This Card Completely destroys the gtx 285 SSC.
All benchmarks run at 1920x1200 with 4x AA enabled and all graphics settings maxed out unless otherwise specified. Full load system power was taken during a 3DMark Vantage run at 2560x1600 with extreme settings.
Put up against the gtx 295 it preforms on average about 15-20% lower than the 295, but you gotta remember the 295 has two gpu's as the 5870 has one. The 5870x2 will beat the 295.
gtx 285 = $360 for 1gb version
5870 = $380
gtx 295 = $500
This card looks great to me from a non fanboy perspective, since I could care less what the label is on my shit as long as it performs. I would not expect a 5870x2 or a 5890 to come out until Nvidia releases their gtx 300 series cards. Since Nvidia always has to make the best card and put a big price tag on it. I would expect the gtx 380s, 385s, 390s whatever the fuck they will call them to go for about 550+, and out perfom this card. This is when ati will drop the price of the 5870s and bring out their 5870x2s and 5890s.
I will have to admit this card is pretty sick.......
My 9800gtx+ SSC does me good. When Nvidia releases their 300 series cards I may upgrade to their older 200 series cards, or a 4890 5870 depending on what the prices are.. Until then go go 9800
